RAINS

RAINS is a Danish rainwear company founded in 2012. Based on an early initiative to interpret the traditional rubber raincoat in a novel way, the company has, since its foundation, grown into an accomplished international rainwear brand. Along with the reinvented classics, RAINS today offers a full line of waterproof outerwear, bags and accessories to the fashion conscious consumer.

They focus on doing business both ethically and environmentally correct. It is important for us to contribute in any way possible, with the fight against the numerous social problems we meet. They have listed four CSR initiatives below, which they constantly work to develop and achieve: human rights and labour standards, anti-corruption, environment & charity. They are proud to partner with professional, ethical factories that produce high-quality products in safe working conditions. We find ethical audits to be a useful tool in gaining insight in our production. The audits help us to understand how our manufacturing partners work and identify potential risk areas. Our audits are conducted by specialist third-party auditors carefully selected by amfori BSCI - the leading global business association for open and sustainable
trade. Going beyond monitoring, we engage in training and education
programmes to support our suppliers’ efforts in meeting Rains’
expectations.

As a member of amfori BSCI, we have adhered to the BSCI Code
since our first operations. Moving forward, Rains has committed to
implement UN’s universal and international agreed upon minimum standard
for responsible business behavior. We do this to promote cooperation,
dialogue and a strong risk culture throughout the supply chain. The core
of the minimum standard is based on respecting human rights, protecting
the environment and countering corruption in a systematically
maintained risk management system within a protect, respect and remedy
framework.

The fabric is bonded together through ultrasonic welding, ensuring
quality, waterproof products. Additionally, all fittings, zippers and
trimmings are designed and produced in materials optimized for wet
conditions. They use PU and Polyester (recycled PET-bottles) for a durable fabric. Rains has specifically chosen the PU-coating as it is significantly more
environment-friendly than its hormone disrupting alternatives: PVC and
DWR-PFC.
